“By teaching children the ‘how-to’ methods and techniques, giving them the opportunity to practise them and reinforce their learning.”

“An approach that first teaches children the foundational techniques and methodologies they need in order to then be encouraged to use these learned techniques to solve more progressive problems.”

I qualified and taught as an English and Drama teacher for many years before setting up my own Tuition business specialising in helping children prepare to sit the 11+ exams.

My philosophy is not to give children loads of 11+ past exam papers, but rather to make sure they know the fundamentals of English, Maths, Verbal Reasoning (for GL Assessments), Verbal Ability (for CEM) and Non-verbal Reasoning. By teaching children the ‘how-to’ methods and techniques, giving them the opportunity to practice them and reinforce their learning. In this way, children can approach the exam with confidence, knowing that they are able to face any question presented to them as they understand the question being asked and how to solve it.

I am passionate about teaching children the fundamentals of Education. I believe that the Progressive Curriculum ‘experiment’ that has been used in the education system over the past 50-60 years has failed many generations of children. I regularly listen to parents frustrations at the schooling their children are receiving – believing that their children are not getting taught the things they need to do well in Secondary School.

I have regularly been to the ‘top table’ of government to act as an advocate for these parents, challenge the current curriculum and seek to move back to a more traditional approach to teaching. An approach that first teaches children the foundational techniques and methodologies they need in order to then be encouraged to use these learned techniques to solve more progressive problems.
